How can you claim a UK State Pension?

If you worked 3 or more years in the UK

You may be able to claim a UK State Pension when you retire, which could boost your retirement income significantly. You’ll need to have paid a certain amount of National Insurance Contributions (NICs) in the UK to qualify, however if you don’t currently qualify, we might be able to help you so that you do.

Full UK State Pension

You need 35 years’ of National Insurance contributions to get the full UK State Pension when you retire  – that’s AU$ 470.30 per week, AU$ 24,455.81 per year and a total of AU$ 489,116.21 over a 20 year retirement.*

Partial UK State Pension

You need 10 years’ of National Insurance contributions to get a reduced-rate state pension when you retire  – that’s AU$ 134.38 per week, AU$ 6,987.67 per year and a total of AU$ 139,757.41 over a 20 year retirement.*

*The AU$ figures stated above are based on the 2025/26 UK State Pension amount and are converted from GBP using an exchange rate of $2.042
